Bliggit was created with the objective of addressing the fragmentation of city services and providing a single digital channel for citizens to access a wide range of services, including news, transportation, banking, recreational activities, and more. By connecting citizens and service providers, Bliggit fosters local synergies and mutual benefits for all stakeholders involved.
One of the key strengths of Bliggit is its open platform, which allows for the integration of various services and creates a unified online environment. This not only streamlines the user experience but also promotes a sense of community and collaboration among the citizens and service providers of Wuppertal.
The app is equipped with an adapted recommendations engine and filtering system, built on the Apache PredictionIO platform. This technology ensures that users receive personalized recommendations and relevant information based on their preferences and needs.
Bliggit also features a Smart Assistance function, inspired by chatbots, which assists users in their daily lives through data-based technologies. Whether it's booking a table at a restaurant or accessing information about local events, the Smart Assistance feature provides users with quick and efficient solutions.
Developed using tools such as Figma, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, React, React Native, and Java, Bliggit is available for both iOS and Android devices. The app offers a user-friendly interface and seamless navigation, making it accessible to a wide range of users.
The project, which started in Tallinn, Estonia, in February 2018, was completed in the autumn of 2020 in Wuppertal, Germany. Bliggit is currently live and has been introduced to other cities in Germany, further expanding its reach and impact.
Bliggit has received recognition for its exceptional design and functionality. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Mobile Technologies, Applications, and Software Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges Bliggit's commitment to professional and industrial requirements, as well as its practicality, innovation, and positive contribution to society.
Bliggit is a significant leap in Wuppertal's digitalization efforts, raising the city's digital infrastructure to a new level. Particularly during the Covid-19 pandemic, the app has proven to be a valuable tool for citizens, offering them a safe and convenient way to access essential services and stay connected with their community.
Bliggit is a testament to the power of technology in enhancing the lives of citizens and fostering collaboration between service providers and communities. With its seamless digital gateway, Bliggit is transforming the way Wuppertal residents interact with their city and each other.
